Paska

This Good Friday labour is always worth it (I use this great recipe). I didn’t grow up with Paska (or ‘cake bread’ as a dear 5-year old friend named it at Saturday brunch) but now I can’t imagine Easter without it.

  1. “Easter bread” was always a treat Mom made for us. I really miss it (and her!). Hers did not have citrus in it, though. Sadly, I don’t have her recipe .

  2. I’m sorry, Sandra, that this recipe wasn’t passed forward to you. Just last night, I was chatting with my father-in-law about how certain scents and tastes are associated with strong memories and how important it is to pass these on. I really wish I lived close enough to my young niece and nephew to have baking afternoons together and other interactions that share these things. There will be some traditions that end with me…. something that makes me a little sad.
